
A technology team is like a jigsaw puzzle. It takes many unique pieces to create the big picture. Conversely, a team that consists of many of the exact same piece has a hard time making something compelling. I will talk a bit about our journey at LinkedIn – how we started at first with building awareness of how people with disabilities use technology, to building inclusive product, to looking inward at how to create inclusivity in our organization, which will ultimately result in a more compelling product.
Sarah Clatterbuck joined LinkedIn in 2012. She currently leads engineering for three groups in application infrastructure. Throughout her career, Sarah has worked on several high-traffic Web properties while progressing in leadership ranks. Prior to joining LinkedIn, she was an engineering manager at Yahoo!, where she led development for the Universal Header platform and user experience. Sarah also held previous roles at Packeteer, Apple, and two startups. She received her Master’s degree from San Jose State University School of Information, specializing in Information Architecture and Systems Design. In addition to her corporate role, she sits on the board of the Girl Scouts of Northern California.
